Story of the WUG


We call ourselves Wugme, because we are all language nerds!

The Wug Test is a language acquisition experiment developed by Jean Berko in 1958 which is used to measure a child's ability to acquire a language. The test involves presenting a picture of a creature known as a "wug" to a child, and then asking them to create a plural noun for the creature. The child is then asked to identify if there is more than one wug in the picture.
This test helps to determine the child's understanding of language and how they acquire it. The Wug Test has been used in various studies to analyze language acquisition and has become an important part of developmental psychology.
